Introduction to Healing Chronic Pain Course
Chronic pain is often misunderstood as a purely physical issue, yet most chronic pain actually comes from our brain and not from a structural issue. The good news is that you actually have the ability to heal your pain through a combination of emotional techniques, rewiring your neural pathways, and learning to soothe your nervous system.
In this 4-week class, you will learn about the impacts of stress on your physical health, how to soothe your nervous system, and how to rewire your neural pathways for a pain-free future.
Dates: 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4 (2021)
Time: 9:00-10:30am MST
Online, via Zoom, recordings included
Investment: $200
Week 1: Finding and releasing repressed emotions. Pain, whether physical or emotional, is experienced in the same part of the brain. As a result, our brains can send out physical pain symptoms in response to emotional issues. Years of repression, traumatic events, and chronic/toxic stress can develop into chronic pain. In the first week of our training, we will teach you ways of finding and releasing the emotions contributing to your chronic pain.
Week 2: Soothing the nervous system. When we experience chronic stress, trauma, or consistently repress our emotions, our nervous system becomes aroused and puts us into a perpetual state of fight/flight/fawn/freeze. Fear is often a driving emotion of this response. In order to rewire our brain for health, we must learn to soothe our nervous system and get our body into a state of rest and recovery.
Week 3: Re-wiring your neural pathways. When pain has been present for long periods of time, the neural pathways become conditioned to continue sending the pain signal. We will teach you strategies to help you create new, pain-free neural pathways.
Week 4: Integration and reconnecting to health. During our final session, we will teach you how to integrate the information from this course into your daily life. We will go over tips and tricks we have learned along the way to help you when you experience resistance or begin to feel stuck.

About Your Facilitators:
Alison McCabe, MS LPCC (https://www.horses-heal.net/) is a therapist in Boulder, CO. Her approach includes body-based processing, somatic work, mindfulness, and self-regulation to support those who are recovering from acute, complex, and development trauma. She works with teens, adults, groups, couples and families to heal painful patterns in relationships with the self and others. As a 20-year practitioner of qigong and mindfulness, she knows the value of these practices to heal and resolve the emotional stress that is connected to chronic pain and conditions.
Nyle Biondi, MS LMFT has been studying chronic pain for the past few years as part of his own healing journey. After searching, but not finding answers from the medical community, Nyle was introduced to the work of Nicole Sachs. His interest and research on neuralplastic pain took off from there. After working through his own chronic pain issues using this mind/body approach, he is excited to teach others to begin to heal their own pain and chronic health conditions. Beyond his work with chronic pain, Nyle works extensively within the trans and gender expansive communities.
